On May 13, the Costa Brava Golf Courses Association participated in a professional meeting held at The Personal Shopping Suites at La Roca Village, organized by Barcelona Golf on the occasion of its 20th anniversary promoting golf tourism in Catalonia.
The event brought together representatives of golf courses, hotels, wineries, institutions and companies linked to the Catalan tourism sector, in a meeting designed to strengthen ties, share opportunities and highlight the potential of golf as a driver of experiential and quality tourism.
In addition to representatives from several golf courses, professionals from local hotels, wineries, tourism service companies and representatives of the Catalan Tourism Agency, among other industry players, also attended the event.
Recognition of Ian Denham’s career
One of the highlights of the day was the small tribute to Ian Denham, founder of Barcelona Golf, coinciding with the changeover at the head of the company, which since January has been directed by Dani Pérez.
The Costa Brava Golf Courses Association wanted to publicly recognize Denham’s career with the delivery of a commemorative plaque in appreciation of his efforts, dedication and continued work at the helm of Barcelona Golf for more than two decades.
His work has been key to bringing Catalan golf closer to international markets and contributing to the consolidation of Catalonia as an attractive destination for travelers seeking to combine golf, accommodation, gastronomy, culture and quality experiences.
With the generational change in Barcelona Golf, Dani Pérez now assumes the management of the company with the desire to give continuity to this work and continue promoting Catalan golf at a particularly relevant time for the sector.
Golf, tourism and premium experiences
During the meeting, attendees were also able to get an up-close look at La Roca Village’s premium facilities through a tour of its Personal Shopping spaces and exclusive services for private clients and groups.
The visit provided an opportunity to share possible synergies between golf, premium shopping, hospitality, wine tourism and other experiences linked to high value-added tourism.
These types of alliances reinforce the region’s capacity to offer complete and personalized proposals to an international visitor who is looking for much more than just a sporting stay: he or she is looking for a global experience based on golf, landscape, gastronomy, culture and quality services.
Looking ahead to the 2031 Ryder Cup
The meeting also showed the growing interest of the sector in the celebration of the Ryder Cup 2031 in Camiral, an event that represents a great opportunity to project Catalan golf internationally and consolidate the Costa Brava and Catalonia as a reference destination.
The presence of tourism agents, golf courses, hotels and complementary companies highlighted the importance of working in a coordinated manner to take advantage of the momentum that this great sporting event will bring.
From the Association, the participation in this meeting reinforces the commitment to continue working together with the different actors of the sector to promote golf in the Costa Brava and Catalonia, generate new opportunities and continue positioning the territory in the main international markets.
